Located on the North West border of the Massif Central, the department of Creuse in the Limousin is one of France's best kept secrets. With a landscape full of undulating hills, streams, rivers, lakes and forest the Creuse has remained virtually untouched by industry or urbanisation making it the perfect place to relax.

La Coterie is 400m above sea level in the scenic countryside of the Creuse. Climate in the summer months is warm and sunny with temperatures reaching as high as 30 degrees. The climate is more changeable in Spring and Autumn with a mixture of sunshine and rain which helps to maintain the green beauty of the countryside.

Explore the river Creuse with its three large lakes, many gorges, water sports, river side walks and villages and swimming areas. Lac de Vassivière, about an hours drive from us, is the largest lake in the Limousin, around 1000 hectares. The lake has six sandy beaches, three pleasure boat harbours, 300Km of walks and 45Km of shoreline crossing between the Creuse and the Haute Vienne departments of the Limousin. There are 3 lakes closer to us, albeit much smaller, with beaches, play-parks, swimming areas, and other activities.
